2 YEAR BTEC EXTENDED DIPLOMA IN MUSICAL THEATRE

This course is for students wishing to pursue a career in the Arts. Students must be 16 years of age or over. The qualification is FULLY FUNDED in association with LEAD Performing Arts, and is the equivalent of 3 A Levels. Students will study a range of classes within each of the core disciplines of Singing, Dance and Acting.

LEAD Performing Arts, and their education funding partners (SCL Education Group ltd) is responsible for the overall performance management, quality assurance and compliance of your BTEC qualification. Their job is to ensure you achieve your BTEC level 3, remain safe on the programme and receive the best possible training from industry professionals.

CLASSES:

TBL College is focused on producing strong “triple threat” students and to help us achieve this, all students will study Singing, Dance and Acting. Students will be able to specialise in either Dance or Acting to support their preferences but will still study all three disciplines.

• Singing Classes:

Singing is the most important part of Musical Theatre training and it is something that all students will study whichever pathway they choose to focus on. Students will improve their knowledge of the mechanics of singing to develop their artistry and prepare for their next College auditions.

• DANCE CLASSES:

We completely appreciate that Dance isn’t for everyone, however, everyone is required to be able to move with ease and in various character styles. This is why it’s mandatory for students at TBL College to study Dance. The Dance pathway will offer students more technique building classes and more in depth training within the core disciplines of Dance. You will work on Alixa Flexibility Stretching and Radar Technique for improving your skills.

• ACTING CLASSES:

Some Dance students are not comfortable with Acting and find it very exposing. However, all Musical Theatre performers must be able to Act and so, as with the Dance pathway, if you choose the Acting pathway, you will attend more Acting classes and a reduced Dance timetable. You will go into more depth about the methods of Acting including Brecht and Stanislavski.

1 YEAR AUDITION PREPARATION COURSE

This course is designed for people who have completed their Level 3 training and are looking to develop their skills in preparation for their Level 6 College auditions. You will study all aspects of Singing, Dance and Acting to achieve the best chances at your chosen auditions. This is a fee paying course and the course includes a Private Lesson, each week, in each discipline, to best prepare you for your auditions.

THE BENEFIT:

A lot of students have a desired College that they are interested in. However, sometimes, they are not offered a place at their first choice of College. Some students are happy to accept a second or third choice but there are those who would rather push their training for another 12 months and work on any gaps in their development, to be able to secure their first choice at next year’s auditions.

PAST STUDENTS:

TBL College has a wealth of experience preparing students for their auditions. We have past students who are currently training at top London Colleges such as: Mountview, Urdang, Bird College, Laine Theatre Arts and Trinity Laben to name a few.

TUTORS:

Our amazing team of specialist tutors have trained at Colleges such as these and their knowledge and experience will be of great benefit to the students. Whether it is singing, dance or acting that the students are wishing to pursue, we can support them to develop their required skills and gain access to their dream College.

CLASSES:

Students are allowed to work with their tutor to create a timetable that is personalised for their needs. There will be some mandatory classes that our team believes are necessary for all auditionees. There is also room for students to focus on the classes they require to fill any gaps in their training or address any concerns from previous auditions.
